Due to the nature of hospitality work, most shifts are during the evenings and lunchtimes. We are able to provide shifts that work around around the school run times.

Additional learning needs

As part of our pledge to be an inclusive employer we strive to be able to employee a diverse range of people, including those with additional learning needs. Working with the NHS we are improving our training and additional supportive measures to encourage more people to either return to work or enter the world of work for the first time. Support and additional needs are assessed on an individual basis

Career prospects and training

In true family spirit we encourage and enjoy seeing our team members prosper and grow within the Harlees company. Our first employee from 1997 ’employee number one’ is still working with us and we have a number of employees now in management positions that have developed from joining in their late teens as serving assistants. We are continually working with shop managers to identify potential candidates that show commitment and a determination. Recently we have signed some of our existing managers on to the hospitality manager level 3 course and will be looking at future opportunities for other employees to stretch their skill sets and gain recognised qualifications. Within Harlees we provide a bespoke training platform that allows all employees at all levels to obtain recognised qualifications.

Culture

The supportive, inclusive and family culture we strive to maintain. For this reason, we look to hire on qualities over skill set and experience. We are looking for people that have a can do attitude that works well as part of a team and will support others to bring out the best of them. We look for people that are able to communicate well with customers, are punctual, can problem solve and will uphold our mission of providing quality fish and chips to our communities.
